“Nothing’s changed yet everything’s changed.”
It happened again. I heard the magic words; this time in the third session.
This client, in a position of leadership in the entertainment industry, had just plopped down on my couch and told me that her whole life had changed since we started working together. Nothing on the outside had changed (same job, same unrealistic expectations from others, same hours, same partner, same commute), but everything on the inside had changed. “I feel so light now,” she said.
Can it be? Don’t things have to change on the outside to feel better on the inside?
Nope. That’s a myth. In fact it’s a trap. That belief will cause you to keep chasing the next thing. “Maybe this will make me happy.”
In fact the opposite is true. Wayne Dyer said it best, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
It’s the ultimate freedom. When you have the skills to take responsibility for your own experience, no matter what’s happening on the outside, nothing will ever be the same.
Victim no more, you become the owner of your life.
And what a difference it makes.
